Formed in 2020 by Kim Hangil and Yoo Sunkyung, Duo OLOT expands its unique musical horizons by reconstructing the textures of traditional Korean instruments—such as the haegeum, yanggeum, piri and saengwhang—through modern sound design and field recordings. True to their name, a pure Korean word meaning "to be complete and whole without deficiency," the duo focuses on contemplating the essence of sound, crafting a meditative language rooted in deep reflection.

Their music transcends the simple act of listening, originating instead from a contemplative stance that gazes upon existence and space. By delicately capturing the subtle breaths of nature and daily life and weaving them into melodic structures, OLOT creates a sophisticated auditory environment where listeners can naturally dissolve into the flow of sound. Focusing on the space between sounds and the resonance left in the silence, their work fluidly extends the boundaries of traditional Korean music through the lens of post-minimalism.

Through album projects that attempt an organic fusion of on-site recordings and melody, OLOT has steadily solidified its artistic identity. The albums BETWEEN (2023) and Long-necked Echo (2023) are the results of a process that calmly tracks and records the trajectory of sound, embodying dynamic narratives within a sense of static tranquility.
